Amaretto is a very flavoursome alcoholic base for cocktails that often produces delicious drinks.
In my house, Amaretto is a favourite pre-Christmas drink that mixed with coke and is drank whilst wrapping presents and watching Home Alone.
Other times, we use one of the exceptional recipes below and mix up something extraordinary.
Take a look at our cocktail list for yourselves.
What is Amaretto?
Amaretto is a sweet liqueur with an Almond taste, that originated in Saronno, Italy.
Depending on the brand, it may be made from Aprciot kernels, bitter almonds, peach stones, or almonds, which are all natural sources of Benzaldehyde that provide the almond-like flavouring for the liqueur.
Generally, Amaretto contains 21 to 28 percent alcohol.
Now let’s take a look at some of the classic Amaretto cocktails we have on the list.
Classic Amaretto Cocktails
So, classics-wise we have:
- Alabama Slammer – a far too drinkable cocktail that mixes Amaretto, Southern Comfort, Sloe Gin and Orange Juice to make something unique…and boozy.
- French Connection – an elegant combination of Cognac and Amaretto. Yes, that’s all there is to it and it’s delicious.
- Godfather – Similar to the French Connection, the Godfather keeps it simple by combining Whiskey and Amaretto together to make a boozy after-dinner drink.
