What Ingredients do you need to make a Daiquri?
White Rum
All Rum is made from fermenting and then distilling sugar cane molasses or sugar cane juice, but White Rum has an ageing process that makes the liquor clear.
Rum is usually aged, and the container it’s aged in has a big say in its colour.
In bourbon or other wooden casks, the rum turns a dark brown colour, but in stainless steel tanks it stays colourless. Rum that’s been aged in wood can also be filtered to take the colour out.
White Rum is clear because it’s aged in stainless steel, or filtered after ageing.
Pretty cool, huh?
Simple Syrup
Simple Syrup is a common ingredient in cocktails and is used simply to sweeten a drink.
You can buy the syrup off the shelf, but it’s also pretty easy to make yourself. It’s made by combining sugar and water in equal parts – simple, right?
