The Jamaican Mule is no different.

A jigger is going to help you get those perfect measurements – after all, it is what the pro’s use.

Can I use Ginger Ale instead of Ginger Beer?

You can use Ginger Ale rather than Ginger Beer, but it’s not recommended.

The taste of your cocktail is going to take a serious hit. It’s not going to be as strong or as fiery as it should be – basically, you’ll be taking the kick away from the mule.

Pro tip: the fierier the Ginger Beer, the better the mule.

Can I use Dark Rum or White Rum instead of Spiced Rum?

Both of those are great options to use if you don’t have any Spiced Rum in the house (or just don’t like it all that much).

However, then you won’t be drinking a Jamaican Mule.

You’d be drinking a Dark Rum Mule or a White Jamaican Mule, but that doesn’t really matter.

What matters is mixing your base alcohol with ginger beer and lime juice.
